Earth Day

Today is Earth Day and over the next three months we will be sharing the latest plastics research, ways to reduce plastic consumption, and strategies to help clean up our plastic problem. The reality is that everyday at Vivreau is Earth Day and we remain committed to our stance against single use plastics. Through education, awareness, and collaboration, we believe that together we can turn the odds in Earth’s favor in the Planet vs Plastics challenge.

Top 3 Takeaways from Earth Day 2024

  1. The Plastic Predicament. Plastic pollution has reached alarming levels and we are only recently beginning to understand the broad range of health risks this has created. We sat down with nanoplastics researcher Naixin Qian to discuss her latest research on bottled water in more detail. When we know better, we can do better, so stay tuned for the full interview in the weeks ahead.
  2. Sustainability is Convenient. We need to rapidly phase out single use plastics and convenient, sustainable alternatives do exist. Even better, they provide less hassle, less cost, and an improved experience. Food tastes better out of a reusable container. Slow fashion, quality clothes look and feel better than fast fashion. Bottling water in house saves the logistics, transport and cost associated with water deliveries – and drives revenue. Scale these actions up to the hot lunch program at school, corporate amenity decisions, hospitality offerings, and other large audience stages and the positive impact quickly compounds. In future weeks we will share tips on how to sustainably enjoy our favorite summer activities without compromise.
  3. Teamwork Makes the Dream Work. Together we can build a plastic-free planet for generations to come. That’s why Vivreau is proud to partner with like-minded organizations and environmental advocates to amplify our impact and drive positive change. By working together, we can leverage our collective expertise, resources, and influence to tackle the root causes of plastic pollution and foster a more sustainable world for future generations. As an official 4ocean Buy One, Pull One partner, we pull 5lbs of plastic waste from the ocean for every Vivreau water dispenser sold. Drew Hamilton, Vivreau’s Managing Director, took part in a 4ocean clean up event and will soon share with you his story behind bringing Vivreau to North America. (SPOILER: It was with the purpose of disrupting the plastic bottle industry.)
