The Beginning

Nearly four decades ago, Vivreau started in the UK, as European bottled water brands dominated by promoting images of pristine mountains and luxurious lifestyles. However, these products relied on millions of bottles, leaving a large environmental footprint as they were shipped worldwide. Consumers often chose water from distant sources, while landfills filled up with single-use bottles, despite recycling efforts.

Enter Vivreau

A progressively minded company that embraced this simple idea: local water can be transformed to be every bit as good as the heavily marketed bottled stuff, but with a tiny fraction of the footprint. Through advanced filtration, chilling, carbonation and touch-of-a-button or pull-of-a-handle convenience, Vivreau offered a responsible, intuitive, and above all else, enjoyable, water solution.

North America

In 2008, Vivreau entered the US and Canada, creating a new category: premium table water dispensing. Before this, only low-output or bulky commercial systems were available. Vivreau's customizable systems offered ease of use, and its signature glass bottles became a staple in top boardrooms and VIP lounges across the continent.

BRITA SE

Forty years after its birth in the UK, and two thirds of a decade operation in North Vivreau, Vivreau was acquired by world-renowned water filtration company Brita SE. Vivreau, and by extension, Vivreau clients, benefit significantly from BRITA’s ongoing program of cutting-edge research and development, technological innovation, and excellence in engineering.

Vivreau Today

Today, Vivreau is a familiar name in the hospitality sector for enabling restaurants to bottle and sell their own water, and a common sight in offices and boardrooms across North America as a way of increasing morale and brand awareness. Vivreau remains the responsible hydration brand of choice for forward-thinking facilities around the world.

Vivreau is part of the BRITA SE family. After partnering with Vivreau in 2012, BRITA SE fully integrated the company in 2016, making Vivreau a wholly owned subsidiary. Today, Vivreau benefits from BRITA SE’s global filtration expertise, research and development, and engineering standards while continuing to serve businesses across North America with premium, sustainable hydration solutions. When was Vivreau founded?

Vivreau was founded in 1989 in the UK by Stephen Charles and his father, Howard. The company was built around a simple but forward-thinking idea: local tap water could be transformed into premium-quality still and sparkling water without the environmental impact of shipping bottled water around the world. Vivreau later entered the U.S. and Canadian markets with local partners in 2008, helping create the premium table water dispensing category in North America. Today, that same focus on sustainability, performance, and intuitive design continues to guide the brand.

Where are Vivreau dispensers manufactured?

BRITA SE dispensers are manufactured in a BRITA SE-owned production facility located near Milan in Northern Italy. This vertical supply chain integration combines precision engineering with robust quality assurance in an ISO certified facility. The manufacturing process supports Vivreau’s focus on reliable performance, thoughtful design, and long-term sustainability. For customers, it means each system is built around more than convenience: it is designed to deliver excellent-tasting filtered water, reduce reliance on single-use bottles, and perform consistently in demanding commercial spaces.

Where are Vivreau Professional Filters manufactured?

Vivreau’s professional filters are manufactured in Germany and the USA. They are built to NSF standards in ISO approved facilities where they undergo rigorous quality testing.

How does Vivreau compare to Bevi, FloWater, or Quench?

Vivreau, Bevi, FloWater, and Quench all help organizations move away from delivered bottled water, but they serve slightly different priorities. Bevi is known for flavored beverages, FloWater emphasizes refill stations, and Quench offers broad workplace water, ice, coffee, and filtration services. Vivreau’s strength is premium, design-forward hydration for offices, hospitality, healthcare, senior living, schools, and foodservice spaces, with still, sparkling, hot, and high-volume bottling options. Vivreau partners with 4ocean through its Pull a Pound initiative. Every time Vivreau installs a dispenser, the company funds the removal of five pounds of plastic from the ocean. It is a practical extension of Vivreau’s broader sustainability mission: helping businesses reduce single-use plastic at the source while also supporting cleanup efforts beyond the workplace. For customers, the partnership adds measurable impact to every installation. A Vivreau dispenser does more than provide great-tasting filtered water on demand. It helps replace bottled water, reduce waste, and contribute directly to cleaner oceans.

What is iQ Solution?

Vivreau iQ Solution is a smart water dispenser platform that uses continuous remote monitoring, real-time alerts, predictive maintenance, and remote repair capabilities to keep dispensers running smoothly. Instead of waiting for a disruption, iQ Solution helps Vivreau identify and address issues before customers notice them. Technicians can perform remote resets, troubleshoot problems, adjust settings, and update firmware, reducing the need for on-site service visits.
